Laura Wyatt
About

Hi, my name is Laura Wyatt - I'm a qualified hypnotherapist, a yoga teacher, a meditation teacher, and a psychology and cognitive neuroscience graduate.

I work with people online, and locally in Colchester and Clacton, to help them develop a sense of personal wellbeing. I am especially interested in helping people to relieve stress, build self-esteem, and live a more loving and intentional life.

Chronic stress and low self-esteem are things that I have struggled with on my own journey of self development and I am keen to share with you the tools and techniques that continue to help me to grow. I am an avid reader and I love to learn, and I feel honoured to have the opportunity to pass on knowledge as a hypnotherapist, yoga teacher and workshop facilitator.

Over the past ten years I have learned so much from valued teachers, friends and family, as well as from books, journaling and meditation. My interests in wellbeing, psychology, philosophy and spirituality have grown through the years and have led me to complete various training courses. My qualifications in hypnotherapy, psychology, neuroscience and yoga have deepened my knowledge and understanding and given me the skills and confidence to share this knowledge with my students.

My personal philosophy on learning, though, is influenced by Buddhist traditions. As such, my suggestion to anyone seeking greater knowledge and understanding is to listen to the words of teachers, but to always come to your own conclusions. To practice the techniques that you are taught, and then to decide whether or not you find them useful. I am no more wise than you just because I have done a few courses and read a few books. I believe that learning and growth come most strongly through deep personal reflection and contemplation, and that your own inner wisdom is as insightful as any guru or professor. We are all on this journey together and I genuinely feel honoured to share this experience with you all.

Through both my spiritual practice, and my studies in psychology and neuroscience, I have come to understand and believe that the bulk of our day to day suffering is manifested and exacerbated by fear. This is expressed as low mood, anxiety and stress as the autonomic nervous system tries to protect us from the threats that we perceive in our daily lives.

Physically, this can look like fatigue, aching and stiff muscles, difficulty sleeping, headaches and stomach aches. Emotionally, it can be expressed as low mood, irritability, difficulty forming meaningful connections with others, a sense of mistrust, low self esteem, a sense of sadness or anxiety that you can't seem to explain, procrastination, and overwhelm. Spiritually, we can feel disconnected from the world and the people around us and uncomfortable with settling ourselves into the present moment. The more on guard we are, the less open we are to love and to being able to engage with ourselves and people around us in a way that is loving, kind, and free.

My aim with all of my group workshops and private sessions is to guide you towards a sense of empowerment, so that you can learn to feel safe, trusting, loving and open. So that you can let go of fear and embrace love. The transformative effect of letting go of fear and embracing love is a simple concept to understand, but simple does not always mean easy. Due to the complexity of our human existence, the relationships that we have with ourselves and with other people are influenced heavily by our past experiences. Our bodies and minds are adept at building protective layers based on our primal responses to both real and perceived threats.

It can take a little time to work through some of those layers, to unlearn some of our habitual responses and to let go of fear. But there are ways to do this, and I would love to help guide you through the process. My favourite tools are hypnotherapy, yoga and meditation.

Services

Hypnotherapy

I offer one to one and group hypnotherapy for stress relief, self-esteem and confidence building, and habit change. Hypnotherapy is a particularly powerful tool for redirecting our neural pathways. Through hypnotherapy we can let go of habitual patterns of behaviour and thinking that do not serve us, and replace them with ones that do.

Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin Yoga

Yoga is amazing for slowing down the mind and building a sense of awareness in the mind and body. Yoga helps us to notice the signals that our bodies send us so that we can be aware of our energy and emotions and allow ourselves the space and grace to respond to ourselves and the people around us from a place of love and not fear. I offer one to one yoga classes as well as workshops that incorporate yoga into a holistic wellbeing practice.

Meditation

Meditation is the most wonderful tool for creating awareness so that we can notice the movements of our minds and develop the ability to spot thoughts that are fuelled by fear and stop them in their tracks. I offer one to one meditation guidance as well as workshops that incorporate meditation, yoga and group hypnosis.

I warmly invite you to join us in one of my upcoming events so that you can begin your journey towards a happier, calmer, more loving, confident and connected life.
