“My passion to work with people as a counsellor and dance and movement therapist comes from love. I love people and witnessing and being part of their journey. It gives meaning to my life.”
Both counselling and dance and movement are related as they both bring many benefits to different aspects of life.
1. Counselling offers a safe and non-judgmental space for self-expression, seeking self- understanding, and healing from difficult experiences. My qualifications are broad, but I am mainly focused on trauma work.
2. Dance and movement offers an opportunity to express through the body and the same as counselling- it heals. When we move, we heal. When we dance, we feel ourselves deeply. Anna Halprin said “Movement has the capacity to take us to the home of the soul, the world within for which we have no name. Movement reaches our deepest nature, and dance creatively expresses it. Through dance, we gain new insights into the mystery of our lives. When brought forth from the inside and forged by the desire to create personal change, dance has profound power to heal the body, psyche and soul”. I immerse myself into these words.
Dance and movement amongst many benefits helps release tension, stress, as well as aids healing from trauma. "The body keeps the score" as Besel Van-der Kolk said.
Counselling as well as dance and movement are part of my life. It's my passion, one of a few that I have. All of them are integrated into my being.
