Child and Family Psychology

Dr Fiona Jeffries is new to The Tree Room. Here is a little more information on what she does… “I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years' experience of working with children and families in a variety of settings, including seven years at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. Since qualifying in 2012, I specialised in working with children and families. Much of my work has been with families who are dealing with the challenges of medical illness or disability. I have a special interest in infant psychology and founded Baby Psychology Basics: antenatal and postnatal workshops for parents and professionals. Services I offer: 1) BABY PSYCHOLOGY BASICS Ante/postnatal workshops and 1:1 sessions which offer families evidence-based information about key topics including: fourth trimester, sleep, baby development, responsive parenting, myth-busting and parental mental health. I also offer bespoke training packages to professionals. 2) CHILD AND FAMILY PSYCHOLOGY SESSIONS Support to families where there is concern about the child's emotional wellbeing. Using a variety of therapeutic models, including systemic, narrative, and compassion-focussed approaches. Each approach is tailored to each individual child and family. 3) SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN WITH ILLNESS OR DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES Coping with illness in the family can be difficult. I offer sessions to support families in a variety of ways, including how to talk to children about illness, preparing children for medical procedures and supporting families to live their lives to the full despite illness.
